About
It would have meant career suicide to start a blog using my own name about a year ago. When I first got the idea to work in the evenings while holding a day job (and one side job as a musician, another side job as a computer/web development consultant), I registered the name “StealthMoonlighter” and thought that I was Oh So Cool.
As time ticked by, and my boss started to tick me off, I “came out” with my moonlighting pass times. As of this moment the boss seems to be both in denial and ignorant of how powerful doing business on the ‘Net can be.
Now, it’s not that I haven’t tried to explain to folks at all my “jobs” — my friends and family included — what I do as an “online marketer”. I have tried to draw them a picture, but they continue to miss the point. All that’s left to do is work and communicate with other folks online who are doing what I do.
I have found that I like teaching folks how to make money online more than I like working with people who have no clue how the Internet works and refuse to (or are unable to) open their minds and embrace the new world of Web 2.0 (i.e., social networking). Perhaps, if they stumble upon this blog of mine they’ll finally “get it”. Until that day — or at least until I’m making a steady income from online marketing and feel confident to walk away from my day job — I’ll go by the moniker of StealthMoonlighter.
